Hi all need to get our waste disposal unit repaired. Does anyone know of anywhere that repairs these. ive done a google search and its only coming up with plumbers. I believe I need to take it somewhere to have it repaired. We live in the South East.

Make and model? Are you sure it's worth fixing?0

What's wrong with it? If it's gone dead, it may be that there's a reset button underneath that just needs pressing . .0

Hi its tripping the mcb.
Its a Caple wdu1001 -
I was thinking about this the other day. I’ve never had one and wondered what is the point of them? What’s wrong with a bin?0

ignoring the argument about whether waste disposals are a good or bad thing ...
Around £300 for a new one with warranty (if you can find one - it looks like it may be a discontinued model or simply out of stock). Same amount of effort to remove & replace with a new one as the old one.1 -
Have you got a local Men in Shed's group, they encourage repair of items rather than discarding, might be someone in local group with skills to help.0

Replace or remove (unless it is just the reset switch). No free lunch, and no free laptop0

When my Tweeny Mayfair died I phoned them and it was almost as expensive to repair it as it was to buy a new one.
I took it out and never replaced it. However it was a great machine and lasted a long long time and yes I do miss it.

Can you confirm that is definitely a MCB rather than RCBO (or RCD)?
What current rating is it?

If it's the MCB, then good chance it's a 'serious' fault, like shorted motor windings. That would pretty much make it kaput. If it's RCD, then possibly some damp has got into the electric bits? But again almost certainly labour-intensive to fix.0
