Hello everyone and welcome to the November challenge.

This is the 169th month of this challenge, which was first started by Batgirl, in September 2007. Here is a link to the original thread as I am sure some of you are interested to read where it all began.
Thanks to Batgirl for starting it and for everyone who has kept it going for more than 13 years ( 14 years now I think!)

The original purpose of this challenge was to help people to try and make an extra £10 a day on top of their normal income to help things along. Ie paying off debt, making savings, paying for holidays, overpaying mortgages etc.

If you feel £10 is too much why not start at £5 (or less if you want)  or if you're brave join those who aim for £20 a day! Anything extra you make is great so set whatever target you think you can manage. It also doesn't have to be £10 each and every day - some days you make more and some days you make less, but aim for £310 (or whatever your target is) extra at the end of the month.

The idea is that everyone posts how they are making extra money and these shared ideas help all of us to learn new ways to help cut debt or earn/save money.

What cannot be added:
Wages from your main job

What can be added:
Overtime
Income from a second job
Daily clicks
Interest
Vouchers
Mystery shopping
And much, much more.

So, join us and see how much you can make this month!

  • Below are some ideas to get you started and a great place to read when you're in need of inspiration.

    Sell your old books/DVDs/CDs/games here:
    Amazon.co.uk, play.com, webuybooks, zapper, CEX

eBay - a place to sell anything and everything.

Gumtree, Preloved, cquot, ebid, craigslist, vivastreet, netmums.com, trade-it , Friday ad, priceminster - these are all places you can sell items too.

Survey sites - mysurvey and pinecone, prolific academic tend to be the best but there are many more it really depends on you finding the ones that work best for you - toluna, harris poll, valued opinions etc

also join Topcashback and Quidco - type in surveys in the search engine and some will pay you to join up with them.

Mobile phone to recycle? try https://www.onrecycle.co.uk/sell-my-phone/

etsy and folksy - If you enjoy making crafts why not have a go at selling them on etsy or folksy. They've been getting increasingly busier each year.

Collect  loyalty points for shopping - Tesco clubcard, Boots Advantage card, Morrisons More card, Superdrug Beautycard, Nectar card  (please let me know if there are any more loyalty cards to add)
You can also go through Nectar to earn points for shopping at ebay.

  • Hi mumof3, well done on beating your target last month. Good luck for this month.

I've used £5 of nectar points - I count these when I spend them instead of when I collect them. Also an £8 off a conditional spend, so off to a start with £13/£300.
  • There's a £2 bonus with a £10 spend at tcb today.

Hi everyone, I’m a bit late but can I join in too please? £300 is my target and it would be great to smash it.

I managed to get a second very casual job this weekend and I am hoping this challenge will keep me motivated to do the extra hours as it’s cold and dark so early and I don’t want to leave the house of an evening.

So far I have £50 from Premium Bonds and 3 hours at my new job with probably another 4 next weekend. £5.50 in Prolific

I also put a big mileage claim in for work, netting about £150 if it gets approved and paid this month- fingers crossed! But knowing my place payment this month is not guaranteed.

  • I have now worked a total of 8.5 hours in my new job, and I’m quite pleased with that. I don’t know if there will be more hours this month or not, but it was hard work and on top of a full time job and various DIY projects, I have a lot on.

i have managed a few surveys but I will only count those when the money or gift certificate arrives.

  • Hi Shineyhappy, welcome back to the challenge. Best of luck with your new job.

Thank you, I found out it pays £10 an hour and so I accepted another shift on Saturday night that will be about 12 hours this month. It is really tiring but I need to increase my pension pot and this thread helps with motivation to work on a cold, dark and wet Saturday night when I would rather be tucked up at home.
