Cant access my emails on iPhone or iPad

I don't know what I've done wrong but I can't access any current emails. I can see older emails. I did have problems the other day and I thought I had re-set my facebook email password, then I deleted my Outlook but it won't let me re-install it.  
Under Mail I have iCloud and Exchange but no Outlook.
I can access my emails successfully on my desktop.
Does anybody know how to sort this issue before I tear my hair out?
