This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about
everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great,
inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old
Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already.
Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check
the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style
natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Morning...Considering the clocks went forward, I am up way too bloody early. Nanny, we're having the kind of weather today that we had in Wales last Thursday and that I drove home in at fifty or sixty all the way...Very very nasty in other words...Last week was a bit arduous, physically and emotionally, not the latter for me, just dealing with the fall out of other peoples including at the funeral, after which a few home truths were pointed out. Sometimes you just have to let things go. I don't need or want to listen to that, neither does OH, so we united fronted it because we won't listen to it again because if someone has a problem with someone, then sort it out, don't try and rope everyone into your special world of grinding your hatred. One more week to go, then hopefully the millstone will be gone and someone else can have fun in there. I don't have special memories of that house, the memories I do have are about the people who just happened to have been situated in that house, so I'm all good about letting it go. My sister, not so much. I suppose it's the practice I've had at decluttering over the last two years...Probably made it easier. And to be honest, I'm missing my house, missing my cats, missing my OH and fed up of travelling to and fro. Which is also probably making it easier.I'll read through in a bit, there's a lot to read after a week off...Hoping you're all fairly well, hoping Nelski improves....Tale care all...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi15

What a great post Taff! You must be channelling some of my thoughts. Luckily I had no such problems recently but the last funeral I went to, in Oz in 2017, had tensions, I have cut myself off from that person. And my DM's flat held no ties to me emotionally. You're right, the memories are in those who populated and visited it. Thanks for saying it so clearly. Hope you get back to your usual routines soon. The weather here is gearing up for awful. High blustery winds and heavy rain. I'm so glad I did outside jobs yesterday. My first trip to the tip was a waste of time as I forgot that it doesn't open until 11am so just did a little shopping and came back home. Later in the afternoon I read the weather forecast for today at the same time there was a dry spell so I zoomed out again. I had a load of cardboard clogging up my car so got rid of it all. On the way back I dropped into the country store for a big bag of sunflower hearts. At home I filled up the bird feeders. I'm not intending to set foot outside.Today I'll make the Halloween cakes in case the guisers venture out later. There's also some mince to turn into something tasty. There's some soup which needs to be eaten today otherwise it'll be too long past it's BBD. I'll be waiting anxiously for Dr Who time. 😂I hope that everyone can keep warm and dry. Happy Sunday to all. Happy Samhain to our pagans. 🎃14

Morning everyone dog has been walked just got in before the rain started it’s going to be a lousy day I went to bed after strictly last night as there wasn’t a bone in my body that didn’t hurt and I was shattered you guessed it still awake at 4 this morning why does that happen I will be doing some housework and there is a piece of pork in the oven for later and I won’t be doing much else . We heard the first of the fireworks last night we are lucky they usually start well before now we dread them as much as I love fireworks my little dog is terrified but I was surprised last night she wasn’t to bad it’s usually panting and shaking and trying to climb in my skin she gets herself into a right state but she just cuddled in and whinged for a bit they didn’t go on for to long and she’s 9 now and I’m wondering if her hearing is as good have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Well done -taff, you don't need someone else's emotional baggage. You've worked hard sorting the house, hope you have a few days of rest now.
Gers, the weather here is the same, wet and windy. Glad we're not going for a swim this morning, it would be a bit rough.
So far this morning I've cut up a squash I grew (Crown Prince) and made soup, also cut some for DD, she makes a lovely curry with it. The remainder will be given to my neighbour.
Got all my jobs done yesterday and visited my friend who is poorly, she's remarkably chirpy and although she's lost her hair from treatment (gorgeous hair too) put on her lippy and we had a good chat. I took her some magazines I had been given so that's something else out of the house.
I noticed the price of the shopping had gone up quite a lot, I'll have to be extra frugal!
Hope you all have a peaceful Sunday, take care. XX12 -
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Light, raining steadily, so damp and dreich!
DH watching catchup tv, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my brekkie bar whilst on here. DS1 still in his pit, he went out for dinner and then out for the evening last night, he came home in the early hours, don't expect to see him emerge until much later. DS2 settled and happy.
Have prepped lunch, so just going to put the pork joint into the oven in a while to roast, all the veg is done, pack ups done and some veg etc for the upcoming work week - this is the 3rd week I've made myself get up and get organised on a Sunday morning, it helps in the week so much also I've been spending some time at the end of the week thinking about what food to have the following week before I do the food shop. It's making the evenings so much less stressful, especially now 2 nights a week I'm finishing work a bit later - and so I hit the traffic coming home.
Dinner last night for DH and myself was a naughty chinese takeaway - we only had 3 dishes but it was delicious and just enough - very much enjoyed.
Back to work tomorrow, then a short week the following week then time off - which we're both well ready for.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Pouring with rain here and blowing a gale its really horrible weather ! I did not get on here at all yesterday the day just seemed to run away with me.
DD and I are off shopping today its an inside shopping center so hopefully we wont get too wet going from the car to the shops, I want to get started on the christmas shopping, I have ordered a few bits online but want to start with the stocking fillers so hopefully i can get a lot today.
OH will stay home and look after the dogs, big pup has been a bit poorly over the weekend ( being sick) so needs to take it easy, he will take them for a gentle walk, we will stop and get a chicken on the way home and cook that for the dogs with some rice,
Chilli for dinner tonight as I am not sure what time we will get back.
Taff wise words my friend, hope you are ok xxx
Have good days all xxx11 -
Morning all,
Sorry to have been missing but my fibromyalgia flared very badly these last few weeks.
My, what a wet and windy autumnal day. So many leaves swirling around the front and back gardens.
I was up early today so have already done two loads of washing. I got very behind with my chores while I was unwell, so starting to catch up today, trying to remember to pace myself.
This afternoon I wish to see how many Christmas cards I have left from previous years, and I will make a start on writing the overseas cards. I guess I should start thinking about gifts, but we don’t buy many, so it’s quite straightforward.I hope you are all doing well, and thinking of those who are struggling.
Take care.

Morning folks and thanks TAFF. That was pretty deep thinking for early on a Sunday morning but glad you have managed to handle the agro and leave it all behind.
I have just spent a fruitless hour or so out in the garage rummaging on shelves, in cupboards and drawers looking for washers. That garage could easily restock Screwfix with all things DIY but where are the b*****y washers?!! I have decided to cut my losses and just buy an assortment next time I am out. The standsteps came back in with me as I need to replace bulbs in the landing fitting which are hanging partly over the stairs aargh, must take my gormless head off! The bulbs have blown one by one and now down to one bulb dimly lighting the stairs so needs must.
Veg sorted for lunch to accompany another of the cottage pies I made last week. It's not a day for going out, we seem to have the same torrential rain as everybody else. Yesterday morning started like this and by mid-day we had blue sky and sunshine. You couldn't place bets on what the weather will throw at us these days.
RUBY good luck with the Xmas shopping. I have quite a few stocking fillers picked up here and there or ordered online, .but it's the main presents that I need to concentrate on as I have so many people to buy for.
Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. Take care one and all and stay safe (and dry!!) xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"11 -
Hello all, the weather overnight has been appalling again and today there's heavy rain then sunshine, but the rain seems to be winning the battle. I was up till 2am having a catch up of some of my recorded programmes, so I had a bit of a lie in.My 3rd jigsaw duly arrived yesterday and today I must jump up and down on the boxes to get the cardboard into the recycling bag as the bags are not very big and only get emptied once a fortnight. I must also catch up on some odd jobs that I have been putting off through the week.We had a video call with DGD last night and she was happier and showing us all her presents. I hated that she was upset and crying after we left her yesterday morning 😥taff I'm glad that you're back safe and sound. I don't have a big enough family to fall out with, but well done you, you don't need to listen anyone else's problem with a third party. Many hugs and much love 🧡Camelot I too noticed a rise in the price of items when I did my online shop yesterday. I did however manage to put in some items ready for xmas, but of course they may be OOS by Tues delivery. I hope your friend can make a good recovery.NRA I'm glad to read that your Dad is improving.Nels my BFF, hope your are on the road to recovery, please get well soon. Hugs. We all miss you 🧡Florenceem I'm loving the gnomes, especially the girl ones, they remind me of Smurfs.NMLC I wish I was as organised with my meals for the week as you, retirement has made me rather lazy 😒Take care all, stay safe and dry.nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently10
