    Bed socks are your friend. And a LOT more MSE than turning the heating up.





    No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...
  • If you are handy with a bit of DIY and have not put down carpets etc put a lot of thick insulation in the attic and also on the upper floors lift the floor boards and place between the beams this will help keep heat in.

    If the Chimneys are still usable the flavel regent heaters are great for pretty much warming a whole house in 15 minute.

    Inflatable chimney pillows are designed to stop air going up chimneys. Add some seasonal double glazing film to the bit facing the room and that should thoroughly stop draughts. Wickes has both.

    That double glazing film is likely to be useful for windows as well, of course. :)
