Bit of a niche interest, but I was wondering if anybody can recommend a website that's good at colourising old B/W images? The free ones I have tried so far(via a google search) haven't been much good, quality-wise.

Nothing automated is going to be perfect, it will require manual intervention. Especially if automated AI guess wrong.Paint.net is one option, other similar things exist for other image editing programs:

Thanks, I've got GIMP which I think also allows you to colourise photos.. if you know how to do it! Not quite sure my skills are up to this, so was looking for an automatic colouriser.0

Not much help (I know my Affinity app can do it but its a bit deep), the big issue for me would the privacy terms and conditions of any site, regarding this auto do.0

This:
https://www.myheritage.com/incolor
is the best one we've discovered. You do have to register, and I think it only allows you to then do a limited number of photos. However, there's nothing to stop you registering again and carrying on.Stompa1 -
Your user name is showing your age @Binkie_Huckaback! Does Dame Celia Molestrangler know you escaped from the home? I assume you are/were a fan of Round the Horne.0

If you have a reasonable (not excessive) number of them, you can request Redditors to colourise your pictures at https://www.reddit.com/r/colorizationrequests - Just make sure you read the rules before posting, make sure you include [Free] in the title (or indeed [Paid] if you're willing to pay) and be appropriately thankful to anyone who volunteers their time to help you!
