Aviva refuses to consider power of attorney

Just a quick update in case someone reads this post. Aviva asked me to send a scan of POA via email which I did, and eventually they accepted POA. I was able to settle a claim using POA without my wife's involvement. It took 2.5 weeks from the date of accident to receive a settlement. Overall I am satisfied with the outcome and the process.

General POA’s are quite common for people in the military, or who do jobs like astronaut, polar explorer etc etc.& anyone else who wants one really. It’s strange that Aviva wouldn’t accept it as it would (should) be treated the same as any other POA once they’d received a copy of it so they could verify it.There are times people assume a POA allows them to just act as though they are the customer, without realising they need to show the POA docs & have them verified first before any company will acknowledge them.0

So, you can often get conflicting information back from them.
However, one of the biggest issues is that there is no way for a firm to know if the POA has been revoked.
