PC will not wake from sleep

Recently I had a USB socket/memory card module replaced on my desktop PC. SInce then the PC will not wake from sleep. Neither pressing a key nor moving the mouse have any effect. Neither does pressing the power button. The only option is to power off at the mains and reboot.
Is there any connection that could have been missed when the PC was reassembled? The device manager setting for "Allow this device to wake the computer" is greyed out for the USB Root and Generic Hubs. All other settings are as expected.
Any ideas gratefully received.

They are also greyed out on my two windows 10 laptops, so I doubt if there is a connection missing or anything. It probably means that you can't use the USB connector itself to wake from sleep - you use the thing you plug into it (ie a mouse). That's how I read it anyway.
You can check what devices can wake from sleep by opening an elevated command prompt and running
powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
Also in BIOS settings / advanced is there an option that looks like 'usb wake support' or similar and is it enabled.0 -
Are the input devices on the USB that changed.
Does long press of the power button do anything.0 -
Thanks for your help
1) Mouse and keyboard are wake-alarmed
2) I cannot find anything about WAKE in the BIOS
3) The input devices are not on the replaced USB device
4) Long press on power button eventually powers off0 -
Are they wired or wireless?
Could move them or the dongle to different USB port0 -
The keyboard and mouse are wired. I have tried moving them to sockets on the replaced USB unit but it made no difference. However I assume the problem is not actually USB related because I cant get the PC out of sleep with the power button unless of course that operates via USB.getmore4less said:Are they wired or wireless?

probably a silly question but are you sure the pc is sleeping and not either off or hibernating?0

These days the defailt seems to be hybrid sleep (ie with hibernation) which operates like sleep. However I have tried turning hibernation off so its' pure sleep and that does not cure the problem.cx6 said:probably a silly question but are you sure the pc is sleeping and not either off or hibernating?0 -
Disconnect the new module. Does that solve the problem? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
