Cleaning Plug Holes

I'm open to all suggestions (natural or chemicals) but looking at some sort of expanding foam cleaner or something that will really give the pipes a good clean through.
They're not blocked but a little smelly and due to the make up of our shower waste pipe (it's practically horizontal for a lot of the run), there's quite a few opportunities for crud and soap scum to accumulate.

The best thing I've found is to tip down bicarb of soda and follow with white vinegar.
    If foams and volcanoes pleasingly.
Once it stops I use a teapot spout cleaning brush and scrub up and down the pipe  between each gap in the drain cover.
The pips will be white again.

It cleans with no effort and no smell.
For the shower I take the gismo out of the drain, chuck down more soda and vinegar and leave it to clean until the next shower. The fizzing moves it along the pipes.
    Bicarb 1pound, vinegar 35p, brush 1pound.
    Just did 2basins, 1shower, 1sink in 5 mins.
I'm about to try showering with soap instead of shower gel and changing my toothpaste because I have a suspicion the laurel sulphate that's there to make it foam for our delight is what is sticking around the pipes. There never used to be so much sticky gunk in the pipes and it doesn't happen in the kitchen sink.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

like @twopenny I'm a fan of bicarb and vinegar but I admit I always want to have a big plate of chips after - due to the smell of vinegar.  If you think this may be an issue for you try lemon juice instead.

Wilkinsons/Wilkos is a great place to buy the bicarb - huge boxes are normally available in the cleaning section.

If it’s just smell then soda crystals and boiling water.

If it’s slow draining and gunk then we prefer Buster.

Another vote for a mound of soda crystals in the plug hole followed by a full kettle of just boiled water, repeat the full kettle and then flush through with as much hot water from the tap as you want to pay for.

I do also tend to flush through with cold water immediately after a bath or shower as I think that preventing the warm, soapy residue from settling saves quite a lot of later cleaning. I usually go round the bath with an e-cloth to get the residue off there and then rinse that clean anyway, so might as well get it all rinsed as clean as I can at the same time.
