    Well done @Lifestartsat40

£3k reduction in debt is a fantastic total!  Do you do any of the challenges on here?  Im really into making a PAD a day.  Sometimes its just bank account round downs of £1 and odd pence but making these little overpayments to debt really mount up!  In my signature Ive started to track all my PAD payments (These are above my usual monthly payments) and as you can see these have really mounted up since I joined PAD thread back in October.

Fantastic progress, you should feel proud!

  • Thanks @shell16 - No I don't do any of the challenges - I try to make a little every day whether that be by selling something or doing a couple of surveys but I tend to sweep it all to one side until theres a little lump sum there. That is how I managed to make 2 x £250 overpayments to my loan.
You have done great with the PAD challenge though - it really has added up for you!

  • So I have set myself a mini challenge.
Basically I currently get paid on the 15th (so just been paid) - I am starting a new job on Monday and won't get paid until the 26th - so my next payday will not be until the 26th February meaning I will have to make my money stretch for 6 weeks. This is all well and good until I phoned T*Sco bank to change my loan repayment to the 26th of the month. They have told me that they can only do dates between the 1st and the 25th and asked if I wanted the 25th - A £300 loan payment coming out the day before pay day is clearly no good to me and so basically I was told it will have to be the first of the month but I have to make a payment each month so the end result being I will have to make 2 x payments in one month - 15th January (just paid) 15th February and then 1st March (which will be just after my first pay day)
Part from the fact that I think this is crazy there doesn't seem to be a lot I can do about it except try and raise an extra £300 before the 15th February and so my challenge is set!

I have £45 already I have made from marketplace sales and I have just transferred a further £10.00 from Topcashback so that's £245 to find!

  • Thank you @savingholmes - just managed a few surveys on Pr0lific which work really well for me - not long until I will be at £20 and I'll withdraw then and add it to my challenge - also just dug out some trainers that I no longer wear so I'm going to list them on the Bay of E shortly - hopeful I could make £15-£20 for those too.
Looked through my change jar and have £10 in 20p's and £10 in 50'ps so I need to take those and bank them so they can be added to the challenge total - Reckon that will get me more than a third of the way there

  • So My OH has today discovered that he can claim £18 per month expenses for WFH (his job has always been WFH even before C0vid) He has always been able to do this, he just hadn't read the expenses policy and he has been doing this job for over 6 years!!!
Claim submitted for January - I have suggested he speaks to his Manager and cheekily ask if any can be backdated - even if its only a month or two but he won't hear of it, saying its his own fault.
Its 'only' £18 he says - honestly - yes, £18 or almost £1300 that could have been in our pockets over the past 6 years. He really does fail to see the concept of every penny adding up and constantly frustrates me with stuff like buying a carrier bag in the local convenience shop when he only has a couple of items - Agghhh!!!!!
Anyone else have difficulty getting their OH to see a bigger picture?

I have a similar problem with my OH although his is partly down to High Functioning Aspergers.  I tackled him earlier this week about a couple of credit card debts he has and suggested I could help him using techniques I got here when I cleared my debts 4 years ago.  He won't have it insists its his problem even though a lot of his spends benefit us both.  Not sure whether to assume he won't notice if I start making small payments to the biggest one as he tends to not open the statements.
