There is no cooling off period for internal company tariff changes
The tariff change email sent to mum by Scottish Power includes "If you’ve changed your mind about this tariff, you must tell us within your cooling off period, which ends 14 days
from the day after you confirmed your selection of this new tariff".
Rang the Scottish Power 0800 number again earlier, and the very helpful chap agreed that mum should be able to revert - he confirmed it with his supervisor. He's left a note on her account (with a reference number) saying that the people she spoke to yesterday were wrong.
I've passed this on to mum, who was just about to go out, but hopefully she'll be able to sort it out later (or next week).

Fair enough if that is what Scottish Power is offering.
