Is my sofa covered under manufacturer garentee or warenty

Options
Hi I purchased a leather 2 & a3 seater sofa  back in July 2019 .I recently noticed some of the stitching had come undon. Under   the corner of the arm rest . when I spoke to the retailer about the insurance I had taken out on it and about claiming I was told it only covered  stitching only up to a year . It would only cover it if it was damaged in an accident .  I said surely this is a manufacturer fault  but was told no again doesn't cover sticking. Surely this is not fit for purpose if it fails in  under two years. Told ide have to through insurance saying it was an accident which I did . When the insurance worker turned up to inspect he said the stitching has gone the same under all four  arm rests   and is not covered by accident damage it is a defect.   how do I stand as I know I don't have a claim with the retailer after two years it seams I don't have a claim with the insurance company I paid extra for and the retailer is saying it's not a manufacturer  fault . Where do I go with this

Warranty from the manufacturer  subject to any terms they want .

Insurance  all depends upon the terms of the insurance .

your Consumer Rights are against the vendor  and the claim is not ruled out after two years .
Not fit for purpose, then go back to the retailer under Consumer Rights  .They are entitled to ask for an inspection or you can commission an independent expert to qualify your assertion of not fit .

Take it you have asked the manufacturer and the insurance company ??
  • I've just asked the insurance man that just come to have a look at the claim. And he said this always happens  when they try to sew leather to plastic eg  not real leather . When you have leather top, seat,or arm rests and sew it  to a side panel that is not real leather .
