British Gas changed my tariff from Economy 7 to Single tariff - Help!

Options
Dear members,

I had been transferred from PFP Energy to British Gas from 1st of October.

From 1st of October we lost night time rate due to British Gas does not support our SMETS2 smart meter - which we found out from their engineer three weeks later. We were left without hot water and heating.
They sent an engineer who changed the meter back to an old two tariff meter last week.
Next day I realised they have moved us from the initial Economy 7 tariff to a single tariff. They claim it will be cheaper for me.
Phone them to ask and now they want me to pay for changing the smart meter back to an old meter £130.
On Monday they promised to change our tariff back to Economy 7 and it did not happen yet.

What would you do if you were in my shoes? I feel like they are playing a game with me to pay them more money.

If I were in your shoes, I'd contact British Gas and ask them when the promised change in tariff will occur; they should be able to process a change in tariff almost immediately :)

It may be worth asking BG to backdate the change in tariff to last Monday when it was promised to you.
I'm sure BG will have no issues with this if it will result in you paying them more money, as they claimed. ;)
  • Are you benefiting from e7? When we moved in to this house it had the meter, we went on the rate but we did not use enough at night for it to cost int.

Of course, we benefit from Economy 7. We use 60-70% of our electricity at night time - two storage heaters and hot water tank.

Written complaint, and ask for compo for the estimated extra cost incurred until they put you back onto dual rate.

Go to the complaints department, It took them 4 months for them to actually do something, when i moved to them they put me down as having a credit meter when i had a pre payment meter that required a key to top up with. So they charged me twice for my electric.

Many phone calls over the two months i was with them and nothing was done to rectify it. So in the end i wrote to the complaints team who allowed me to email a photo and proof of my meter and receipts of tops ups. Still not fully resolved yet.

Won't be using British gas again but at least i got my meter changed for free.
    In Progress!!!
