Problem with a PDF file

Hi

I've been sent a PDF document which I need to forward on via email.   Normally, when I receive a PDF file - the picture shows the Adobe Log.  At the moment I am now receiving files stating pdf, but the logo on the attachment is the google chrome symbol.

I have tried saving the file - in which case, the saved document on my laptop, does actually have the Adobe Logo.  However, when I attach to the email, the app symbol reverts to the google chrome symbol again.   The recipient of the email is then unable to open the attachment.

If it's any help, my emails are sent from Outlook 2019.

Grateful if anyone can help solve my problem?

Many thanks

    Try -
    - find a known PDF file or save one from an email to a folder
    - <right click> the file
    - choose <Open with> then <Choose another app>
    - tick the box
    - select Adobe Reader
    - <OK>

You may need to close Outlook and reopen it. All done.

Is the recipient able to save the pdf to his PC and then open the saved location, right click on the pdf file, select 'open with' and then select Adobe Acrobat?
A man walked into a car showroom.
He said to the salesman, “My wife would like to talk to you about the Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
Salesman said, “We haven't got a Volkswagen Golf in the showroom window.”
The man replied, “You have now mate".

Hi, I did this.   The doc opens as a PDF, however, as soon as I attach it to the email 'Outlook' it changes to the Google Chrome ikon/symbol again.

Am now guessing it has something to do with my email?

Do you have your system set to show file extensions?

Are you sure the file called fred.pdf is not in fact fred.pdf.html and you have file extensions hidden?

    I'm not sure!

However, I closed Google Chrome Browser, Opened Microsoft Edge, then opened my email, created a new document and attached the PDF.   The attached document has stayed as a PDF and the other person now has the document.

Next problem is to find out what is wrong with the Google Chrome Browser.  Am I best to ditch Chrome and start using Edge?
  • Thank you All.  I have now worked it out.  I changed the settings in Outlook.  My messages had been converting to HTML.  I changed it to Rich Text Format and now all seems to be OK.

    Thanks again everyone.
