EDF Deemed tariff the cheapest I can find?

Hi, I just moved into a new rental and EDF put me automatically onto a deemed tariff. The "current tariff prices" shown when I login are:
electricity unit rate: 21.88p
gas: 4.40p

When I try to go on a long term tariff, it's showing me these prices:
Gas unit rate (p/kWh) 9.424
Electricity unit rate (p/kWh) 32.41

even with other providers (using energy club), the cheapest I found was Scottish Power:
electricity: 27.26
Gas 7.77

How come my deemed tariff is the cheapest? I'm thinking to just remain on that for the winter months and then try again before April to switch to a long term rate. Is that a good idea?

If you are getting those prices I would absolutely stay where you are! If come the spring when you come to look again things are more settled you may find something worth switching to, although personally I doubt that is going to happen.

It could be because suppliers aren't showing the price cap rates that are far lower to try and keep people from switching and it's happening with most suppliers.
One of EDF's charges were 26p SC for gas and electric but up to 33p plus for a kWh of electric & 7p plus for a kWh of gas and a DD of over £114 per month another was the same DC but over 23p E and over 7p G for nearly £85 per month. That's the only tariffs that they showed. they certainly want customers onto fixed deals, these were both 24 month deals.
Someone please tell me what money is
