Carbon Monoxide Detector Has Gone Off!

  • Just to say, I got my corgi guy out and the boiler was fine - phew! Therefore the detector must have been faulty. I've had new detectors installed ready for renting (being a responsible landlord and all that!) but it did give me a bit a fright. I am always going to install them in my rented houses from hereon in - my new years resolution! I have some but not in all houses. I guess it confirms that I am just worn out and tired not suffering from co2 poisoning which is a good thing. :D Thanks for everyone's advice.

Thanks Andew, you are absolutely correct and I have learnt a bit of chemistry today - CO = carbon monoxide!

    Merry Xmas to you too.

All's well that ends well. Does make you think "what if". Still you did the right thing to get the boiler checked out. It may have cost you but this is a case where money saving needs to be taken with a pinch of salt - save money on which corgi guy you get to check it out rather than not checking it out at all!

The worst thing with CO is you don't know it's there until you pass out - whether or not you come round again who knows. One of my neighbours suffered carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a problem with their gas fire..but fortunately not in high enough concentration to cause harm other than nearly passing out.

Incidentally, it's CO not CO2. CO2 is carbon DIoxide which is completely harmless. CO is carbon MONoxide and deadly. With a background in chemistry i have to point out these things!

Go easy on the refurbs and have a good rest over christmas!
