Do suppliers have to offer a variable rate option?
The fixed rate contract with EDF for our communal areas electricity ends soon and they have offered various new fixed rate options but no variable rate. If we do nothing, we'll go onto what seems like quite an expensive fixed rate, but with no early termination fee. I was just wondering if suppliers are obliged to offer a variable rate tariff. Or are the rules different in our case as the supply is with a management company rather than an individual property?

There are different rules for business accounts vs. domestic accounts, and communal accounts like the one you describe are ususally treated as business ones.
