O/S Daily Thursday 28 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry underfoot, air feels chilly again.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was again a clear up from the fridge, menfolk had LO beef braised in gravy, yorkshires, then I had some new potatoes to use up and they had a portion of peas and gravy. I had hot new potatoes, ham, boiled egg, tomato and cucumber and mozzarella made into a salad with a drizzle of olive oil. So lots of bits and pieces used up, not sure what we'll be eating tonight but I will find something.
Last full working day this week, although I'm working Saturday this week.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning,
Sleep has eluded me again🥱, so I am up with a mug of coffee☕, have put the DW on.
We did manage to order a car yesterday, hopefully it will arrive the first week of December, we did want red as that was cheapest but he didn't think any would be in until January at the earliest so we went for black. What a palaver just to change the car - we are certainly living in interesting times🤔
Not sure what to do today, it seemed dry outside when I let the cats🐈🐈 out but we are forecast rain. It will probably be a decision between housework, gardening or napping😴
Have a good day 🌻11 -
Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
If it's not raining today we will return to the marina, I'm looking forward to having hot water without needing to boil the kettle!
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.12 -
Morning All
Raining again, thankfully not as hard as yesterday. I got drenched going from work to the car and the roads were flooded on the way home, hoping it has cleared this morning.
Off for a swim, slowly getting back into the routine although sleep is still a bit hit and miss. If I stop worrying about it it should sort itself out.
A month or so ago I signed up to a different gas and electric supplier, got their welcome email then nothing else. I've phoned a few times to ask what's going on and they denied all knowledge. Anyway, after them not phoning when they should I managed to get hold of the complaints dept yesterday - all very apologetic and will honour the deal. It was a couple of days before the big price hike so I think they were trying to renege on the offer. Will have to make sure they get everything done this time, will be checking!
Good luck with the job Ruby.
Hope everyone is well or recovering, take care. XX12 -
Morning all
Quite mild here and no rain due so it will be busy at work again, yesterday it was packed out all day there were lots of children dressed up and a few parents too, a couple of people were really rude and arguing about paying to get inwhich is horrible as it states on the website how much it is but some people are just very tight with money despite us being a charity !!
Chicken kiev and chips for dinner tonight so nice and easy I think DD is going to her young mans for the evening so just OH and I here.
DW needs emptying this morning and I shall wash my blanket from the sofa as the dogs got it muddy.
Darling Nels was moved back to hospital last night, she needs to go back on a drip for something so hopefully it will only be for a few days, so positive thoughts for her please xxx
Right I had better get organised have good days all xxx13 -
Morning folks. All is quiet outside so, fingers crossed, the rain has stopped. Yesterday it was atrocious for most of the day though things brightened up late afternoon.A lot of my time was taken up with gathering up bank info from the various family members and then sending off their inheritance monies. Doing that felt good and my late DM would be happy about it.My neighbour came down to look at my front garden, she has some great knowledge along with grand ideas. She's more keen on some things than I am so I'll start small. Two raised beds and a small greenhouse. I want a raised kind of decking area in one corner so I can sit drinking my sundowner with a view over the small wall. All plans for next year. Her husband clambered over a pile of logs in the big barn to move some which had fallen and blocked the big sliding door from opening fully. I keep my car in there during winter so need it clear. Mind you I can't move the huge door on my own!Despite the incessant rain the temperature was mild so I didn't need to light the wood burner. I brought in two loads of wood just in case.Today I may do some light shopping for Halloween stuff, no real idea of what children expect these days. An apple and peanuts probably won't cut it anymore I expect.Well done on the car order Sunflow3r, it's not too long to wait.Ruby - thanks for the news about Nels, send her my love please. Does she not have access to a tablet?Happy Thursday to everyone.11

Morning folks and thanks NMLC. I had the usual rubbish night but that's par for the course these days. I live in hope one day it might improve. After a (mostly!) dry day yesterday we are forecast heavy rain from lunchtime, to last well into tomorrow. Thank goodness I live on top of a hill so no need to launch the ark.
Amazingly yesterday's planned jobs got done. Batch cook of soup, chilli and Bolognese happened and now crammed in the smaller freezer. I have had a box of sea bass (whole with head and tail - aargh!) in there since it was subbed for fillets last year! So that came out, I girded my loins and chopped the head and tail off and had the fillets for my tea. Removing it from the freezer left room for the new stocks.
I decided it was time I addressed all the scuffs and scratches caused when the new boiler and pipework was done so they have now been covered at last and the kitchen is back to normal. Today's planned job is emulsioning inside the airing cupboard where the cylinder and pipework was removed. It looks a real mess in there and will probably need a couple of coats.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies, poorly loved ones and MIA. RUBY how lovely of NELS to prepare you for your interview. Good luck. Take care one and all and be safe xx
Sorry RUBY cross posting and just read your update on poor NELS. Much love to her and wishing her a speedy recovery x"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -

Morning everyone
I've had a busy couple of days . On Tuesday I got the train to Newcastle - had a good mooch around the shops and got pyjamas and bits for the girls for Christmas and socks and knickers for little one. All the socks I had for her were too small.
Had a nice day to myself.
Then yesterday we took little one to a play centre for disabled children up near Newcastle. She had a great time - there's soft play, trampolines and a huge outdoor play area. Also Halloween crafts so she made a sparkly spider.
From there to the Metrocentre where we had lunch and a nice wander and met some wizards! I also got my 2nd tattoo - 3 stars on my wrist - one for each of my girls.
It was a good day out - little one was shattered when we got back....and I was straight into my pyjamas too!
She's here for the day later as DD is working. We may walk down to my mam and dads later but it's pouring at the minute, so will see. Other than that it will be a day playing at home.
Hope everyone has a good day today12 -
Good morning, it's a dull and damp start here. I'm a bit later than usual - I was up in the night reading, because I couldn't sleep, the second bad night in a row, so I'll be yawning all day.I thought I would have slept well last night because the night before was so bad, but no, I was wide awake, I came downstairs at about 2.15 and went back at about 4am ish,Not a lot planned for today, but next week I'm going to do some proper cleaning, and wash cushion covers etc - we seem to have been away a lot, and things have got a bit neglected.Thoughts to Nels, and others who aren't well, take care folks.10

Morning all dog walked and its another day of sitting indoors waiting fo trades to either phone or turn up its like roulette every day so far this week neither a phone call text or show up from either the roofers or the windows DH says just get on with my day and if they turn up while i am out that's their problem so yesterday i carried on as planned and went for my manicure pedicure and no one turned up so will just carry on i think.
Sending healing thoughts to Nels and all those who are unwell or looking after poorlies
Have a good day whatever you are up to stay safe warm and dry xxSlava Ukraini10
