Avro Energy have taken another direct debit today 26/10/21

I had begun the switch from People's Energy to Avro five days before PE ceased trading. Initially I started receiving messages from British Gas saying they they were taking over. That stopped then I received a message from Octopus acknowledging that I had been mid switch so my account was with them. Nothing since but I was £175 in credit with People's Energy and, having taken £270 last month four days after Avro went they have taken the same amount today.
I have adhered to the advice and sat on my hands but how long will I have to wait for my monies to be in order and be supplied with my new account and tariff details?

Anything owed by People's Energy will come back to you via British Gas, eventually...
Any balance owed by Avro will find its way to your Octopus account, and you can judge the progress being made on that by reading the posts on their website, which suggest they are now close to agreeing the last few issues between them and the Avro administrators which are in the way of completing the transfer of information from Avro.

When i learned that avro had failed i immediately cancelled my DD. I am slowly being switched to Octopus and i have not yet supplied DD details to them. Once i am fully switched and have clarity on closing and opening reads and balances then i will switch on the money supply. I am not allowing them to dip my account as they wish until the dust settles.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

me too. I cancelled DD quickly because crap like this happens. I put the DD money aside so i can "one off payment" with octopus when it is up and running.

My switch from Green to Avro was due to be completed the day that they both went Bust. So far 2 x DD's have been taken by AVRO and I expect the next payment to go to Octopus.

I have no problem with what Octopus are doing. They have worked through over 550K accounts and according to their updates:

    https://octopus.energy/avro/

Things should be finished soon. I waited to contacted Octopus until 3rd Oct by email to confirm I had moved to AVRO and have been kept up to date very well since then.

How long it will take to get my £230 credit back from Shell? Based on the contact I had with Shell who have not been helpful I would suspect it may take 6 to 9 months.

I am in a good position in that I am a low user and am not desperate for the money unlike some.

I made an Octopus account a few weeks after they took over but didn't set up the DD until just over a week ago. The only thing that worries me is that both Avro & Octopus will take a payment when the DD is due 10/11/21 as I set up the DD with Octopus last week. I ain't really bothered just as long as it gets added to the credit refund which at the moment stands at just over £171.
Someone please tell me what money is

I would imagine you can cancel the Avro one now.

Ditto. I think people are wrongly being persuaded not to cancel direct debits in instances like this. I have always cancelled them ( yes, been there, done that). It's never a problem. Just set a new one with the SOLR. Job done

It shouldn't be a problem either way, but if you are more comfortable cancelling then go ahead.
Worst it can do it require you to set up a new DD with the SoLR and may initially put you onto a slightly more expensive capped tariff if the account gets transferred as a standard credit account instead of a DD account, but that shouldn't take long to fix. (... and it isn't something Octopus tend to do anyway)
Then just set aside the money ready to pay when the new account is up and running...
