Cruise Travel Insurance

Hi everyone,

My partner and I have booked a Mediterranean Cruise for April ‘22. Flights are booked separate and overnight stays in hotels are also booked separately. 

I’m worried about making sure we have adequate travel insurance, particularly with Covid in mind. I’m also not sure if this counts as multiple trips as we’ll be visiting different countries.

can anyone suggest how to do this on line or if I should perhaps give a  Recommended company a ring?

Its a single trip, you just need to make sure you've included cruise cover (normally an optional extra) and that the geographical limits cover your ports of call - ie dont buy a European trip cover if your boat also stops in North Africa. Only budget providers do a Europe only cover normally, most its simply if it needs to include USA (or USA and Caribbean) or not... if you are going that part of the world its probably sensible to inc USA cover as if you have a major illness on the boat they'll almost certainly medivac you to the USA rather than a tropical island

The largest Travel claim I ever saw was for stroke on a cruise ship near the Bahamas which came in at c£1.2m and most of that was medivac to the USA and a stay in intensive care there (before plug pulled and remains repatriated which isnt much more than DHL would charge for a 80kg parcel)
