Cashing a HMRC cheque from overseas

Hello,
I received a cheque from a HMRC tax rebate. Is there a way to cash cheques from overseas? I reside outside the UK and my two UK banks (HSBC and Lloyds) do allow for online operations but with very low limits (£500 and £1000). I contacted HMRC via chat and the lady told me that converting the cheque onto a bank transfer is not an option.
Any advice?
Thank you!
Erica

I thought this would fall into the tax credits category? I'll try on there as well.

Tax Credits have little to do with Income Tax.
It is (was) a benefit paid to lower income families, now replaced by Universal Credit.
The only commonality is that both are administered by HMRC.

Have you tried the HMRC app? If you can use it to move the money from HMRC to your bank then as others suggest return the cheque and use the app (or get them to transfer to UK account)Proud to have dealt with our debtsStarting debt 2005 £65.7K.
