Was considering buying expensive Apple products from John Lewis as they offer 2 years warranty.
Then I noticed this on the Apple site regarding warranty under UK consumer rights.
"England and Wales: 6 years from date of delivery"
Can I really get 6 years warranty if I buy direct from Apple? (Apple's limited warranty is just 1 year)

UK Consumer Law is from the vendor only .Warranty is an extra and not a consumer right .The six years is not a warranty but the time scale in which you can take the vendor to court under Consumer Rights .Vendor not Apple unless Apple are the vendor .JL extra two years warranty plus your standard consumer rights .Apple purchase one year warranty plus your standard consumer rights .3

And note that six years is just the absolute maximum - it doesn't mean that everything ought to last six years, or that you won't be expected to prove a problem was inherent in the product.1
