Morning all and hugs to those in need including everyone with sore hands, which sounds like a few of you.Welcome back Nan. Glad you got to see your Dad NRA. Raining and dull atm.Best friend came and we ended up going to the Italian at the retail park. The traffic to get up there was awful, then it dawned on me that it's half term. Anyway we talked non stop for nearly 4 hours
including sat in the car for 30 mins when she dropped me off! I've taken some beef bourgignon out of the freezer for later so an easy tea tonight. It is so helpful making extra to freeze when you're cooking so I'm sure it's the right thing RR and Nmlc & I'm not even working now.I'm expecting a quiet day today , the DGC are off school so you never know
Take care all x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)11 -
Hi everyone,
Csarina you're the only other person than my late M-i-L to call them dough balls rather than dumplings (at least hers were dumplings, perhaps yours are different).
It's very wet here this morning though supposed to dry up if staying grey for the afternoon. We might go up to Stainforth to try to see the salmon leaping the falls. We've seen it a few times, not many succeed but it looks very spectacular.
The carpets took until 2 pm to be fitted but they look very good. The new dining room rug looks a bit bright but hopefully it will tone down a bit, it wasn't expensive so we don't have to keep it forever if we hate it. Steve also changed the carbon monoxide alarm that was playing up in the front room.
We spoke to Chris yesterday, he is really suffering with his bout of covid so I hope he feels a bit better today. He worked through it on Thursday and Friday (at home) but stayed in bed yesterday. He'd been working himself into the ground which is probably why he succumbed to a bad bout, hopefully he will rest a bit more now.
I'm sorry so many of you are suffering with your hands, it must be so debilitating, I hope it improves for you.14 -
The grey clouds have come down, the heavens have opened and there is a deluge! I've got the first load in the washing machine, showered and now wondering if I need to vacuum out the stove or can use it once more before doing it.Maddie - so good to see you, but sorry that your hands are so sore. Your OH sounds so kind.12

Hello all, thanks for the warm welcome back. My hands are not sore but they are both shaking now and noticeably so to others, so I've managed to get a GP telephone consult for Thursday next week. I had to book it 3 weeks ago 😮 but it will probably start with having to go for a blood test anyway. We managed to move more chippings than we thought we would yesterday in between the showers but there's still some left to shift. At the moment it's a wash out with the weather, hopefully it may dry up enough to finish the job. We're both suffering the after effects of fresh air and dusty chippings and my nose is blocked up this morning, Mr Fix It is sneezing. ( hopefully it's not the you know what)DGS had his jab yesterday and he has a sore arm, but that's all and it was his choice. His head was filled with stupid stories of trackers etc from other children, but he listened to reason and got it done. Unfortunately because DGD had tested positive he had to jump through hoops at the centre even though the rest of them had tested negative and it took him and DD about an hour relating the same story again and again to different people.I finished my jigsaw last week so I may get another one down, it'll have to be one that I have previously done though as I don't have any new ones left. I'm hoping that it will help my hand co-ordination. Maybe I'll be a tad naughty and look for a new one on the internet later too 😊Right I shall have another coffee and contemplate my day.Take care all, love and hugs.nan xx

Good afternoon,
Wet & miserable here🌧🌧
I was going to be good and do some housework but instead we've been out looking at cars 🚗 we've just popped home for lunch but may be going back to look at some more😁
Have a good day 🌻9 -
Snoozer, I always called them dumplings too, but married to a Scotsman they have become dough balls. I make them using two heaped table spoons of SR flour. 1 tablespoon of veggie suet. 1 tablespoon of sage and onion stuffing, salt and pepper. Add enough water to make a dough, allow them to stand as the bread crumbs in the stuffing swell, add a little more water if needed. Add to the pan of mince or stew once its bubbling, turn down the gas and cook for 20 minutes. I use a carving fork to test they are not still 'doughy' in the middle. I have also done them in the oven. Cook them for 10 minutes with the lid on, then spoon liquor from the pot over the top, leave off the lid and cook for a further 10 - 15 minutes.....yummy......DB is not allowed potato if he has dough balls, so tonight we have carrot, calebrese and brussels with them tonight.7

I finished some more snow people this morning. I have started to make some wreaths.
My back is telling me that I have stood too long at my craft table this afternoon.
I have a new book to start so it is off to my rocking chair to chill.
