O/S Daily Tuesday 26 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry underfoot, air feels chilly again.
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was chicken and mushroom pie, chips and beans - pie was delicious, but made a big one so 2 good portions left - dinner tonight is going to be a clear up dinner, as there's other bits in the fridge that need using up.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad - not keen on the slighter later finish but that's how it is for the moment so I have to get on with it. It does help very much doing food prep at the weekend so the week nights are not so hectic, I chose to make the pie last night so that took a bit of time but that won't be something I repeat - I need to be either making a dish ahead to it's just a re-heat or just have a meal that needs little or no real prep.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Thanks for the start nmlc, your pie sounds delicious.
It's raining this morning again and looks set for the day. The children will probably be in all day which makes for a very noisy school.
Not a lot going on here, someone asked for a rice cooker on freegle so gave mine away, can't remember when I used it last and it does spit water a bit so that's a bit of space in the cupboard. I know it's not very MSE but I tend to use the microwave pouches of rice, saves a lot of faff.
Work yesterday was ok, steadily busy throughout the day. I was very tired when I got home so just did a bit of tidying and collected my delivery from next door - a new mirror for the living room, need to get my builder friend in to put it up now, neighbour offered but not sure he would get it right!
Hugs to those feeling poorly or looking after a poorly loved one, good to hear from you NRA and Nanny, sorry you're having a rough time.
Take care.XX12 -
Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.Still dark of course, but it looks a bit damp, I think rain is forecast. We had a lovely day yesterday with the Dgc's, tiring though! By the time we took them home at about 6pm, dgs was yawning and starting to get a bit crotchety, so Dd said it would be bath and bed fairly soon.We are going to the hairdressers' today, then I need to pop to the shops. We'll go to the quiz tonight.Sorry to read that you've not been well Nanny, and that your holiday has been cancelled, hope you get there eventually.NewRoadAhead, you seem to be having a bit of a bad time as well, thoughts to you and your dad. Also, healing thoughts go to others who may need them today - take care folks.14

Morning all.
Thanks for the thread nmlc and hugs to all those in need.
When I was working full time I used to make a week's worth of food on Sunday whilst the oven was on, it saved a lot of time in he evenings.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.13 -
Morning folks. My drive down to Glasgow and back yesterday was uneventful though the autumn scenery was stunning. Autumn is really a gift of nature. Anyway, took back the unwanted printer, returned unwanted order to M&S, posted a gift to Germany, bought an unnecessary sandwich at an Italian deli and a new sponge at Boots. I was back home by 2.30pm. 😀 Both the cleaner and the gardener had been so all was neat and clean.
Last night the sparky eventually turned up to fit the new socket in the loft for the PIV unit, all the other stuff had been done by a neighbour. Now it waits to be seen if it's effective.Today I've got a couple of washing loads to do, can't see any of it going out on the line unfortunately so it'll be on the clothes horse in the spare bedroom. I'll set off the dehumidifier to clear the moisture. More logs are needed inside, the very old ones are burning through very quickly so I'll soon have used them up and will have room for a new load to season. I've still got three loads in the barn, two ready for burning and one new this year. It's lovely to see Nan and NRA posting, welcome back and sorry you've both had rough times. There's still some missing out in the ether so hugs to them.Happy Tuesday to all.13 -
Morning all
I was shattered last night when I got in from work I had to stop for petrol and then pick big pup up from my mums so didn't get in till 5, I quickly put the dinner in the oven and had a quick bath, I was in bed for just after 8 and watched something on my tablet but then tossed and turned till the early hours I just couldnt settle, so today will be interesting !
Pizza and salad for dinner tonight so nice and quick, ive got some paperwork to complete and send off too and I need to do a shop at some point.
DW needs emptying this morning and I will see if there is enough washing to make up a load.
Another person at work has come down with covid it seems to be getting much worse.
Nanny and Scarlett nice to see you both back, and Nan I hope you feel better soon xx
Have good days all and take care xx12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. We have a dry but sunless day forecast and to be fairly mild so will take that. NRA I'm glad you finally got to see your dad and I hope he can be persuaded to take his meds as well as eat. NAN shame you had to cancel your trip, so many plans get scuppered with this blooming virus.
Tuesday again, they do roll round quickly, so it's coffee morning then lunch meet up with oldest buddy day. She's been down south to stay with her DS and DP so will have lots to tell me.
Yesterday ended up a silly morning. I thought I would get DD's sewing out of the way first and it's so long since my machine came out I couldn't remember how to thread it! Struggling away when DF rang me from Oz. It's a while since we spoke so she had lots to tell me. The groceries were delivered whilst on with her so just dumped all the bags in the kitchen and carried on talking! They eventually all got put away and then back to the machine! The break must have done me good (or maybe the light was better!) as I threaded it first time and the sewing got underway. Only to be interrupted by a text telling me the hairdresser was on her way earlier than planned! She duly arrived with strict instructions not to take much off (she didn't!) then back to the sewing again. I eventually collapsed with a very late lunch, sewing finished and machine back under the stairs.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) as always for our poorlies, poorly loved ones, stressed or p... off! Take care all and be safe xx

Pops head around the door wafting in copious hugs and spoons, Still reading a few threads daily, but hands are so very painful still, dressing, cooking, gardening, cleaning, knitting - everything can reduce me to tears or very naughty words, OH being a poppet and taking up a lot of the slack. Yesterday we spend a large chunk of the kid's inheritance on changing the car, not driven for a couple of months as cannot manage the handbrake for hill starts, taking delivery soon of a lovely new to us automatic car with electronic handbrake, a Kuga again so hopefully will get used to it quickly.
Keep well, stay safe all, Covid rates locally sky high, but seem to be dropping daily. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)9 -
Morning, hugs if you need one, especially the poorly ones.
Its a grey morning here, expecting the chap to measure the bedroom and also the wall paper I ordered. No idea where I am going to store it...hey ho.
Managed to get both the cards done and dusted yesterday. Went over to see B, her house is very bare, everything that can be is packed, she goes tomorrow. We will miss her so much, we have been so used to keeping an eye on her it is going to be very strange. However we have thought for quite a while that she really was not safe, so its also a relief. We will be in to inspect the new flat on Monday next week.
I now have a book pillow to do, need to embroider the pocket.
No gadding about today, supper will be mince and dough balls, the last of the crumble for dessert.9
