New house - what to do

The capped price at 12000 kWh gas is only around £25 pa dearer and at 3100 kWh electric £5 dearer for PAYG over DD so not a life changing sum. You may have difficulty finding a new supplier that will take new customers but maybe Boost will arrange a switch to OVO, their parent company.

The situation seems to be that none of the energy suppliers are accepting new customers onto their Standard Variable Rate at the moment. Any switch will be to a Fixed term, Fixed tariff rate at levels higher than the OFGEM imposed cap which applies to SVR tariffs. So unless you can get a supplier to accept you onto a PAYG SVR, with agreement to change you to a credit meter SVR, staying with Boost might be the best option taking into account the current state of the market.
