Faulty electricity meter???
Comments
-
Just as an aside. That type of meter is mainly used by British Gas. After many years of reading the TAI for single rate set-ups we were told to always use the R1 reading. 99 times out of 100 they were the same, but occasionally they will differ, presumably because the meter has been used for multi-rate in the past.

Thanks everyone, that makes sense. Not noticed the decimal moving before but I can see it now which could explain my problem. I will speak to my energy company again.0

Hi everyone, I have an interesting case, I was with People Energy 2 years ago, I complained about my elect bill for 9 months ,then they sent one to test it after I paid £100, then meter was faulty, they installed another one and after 2monthers the company gone bankrupt, British Gas took over, guess what, the same thing happen again, meter tested again and found faulty by 15.71%,they want to reduce my bill by 15.71 %,I refused. I said faulty means faulty
Any advice0 -
So what are you after Hammoud? Free electricity? Compo?0

Yes accept the 15.71% discount as thats what your due, presume you've been refunded or credited the £100 you paid for the meter check, yes?.HAMMOUD said:Any advice
If unhappy with that follow the British Gas complaints process and after 8 weeks refer onto the Ombudsman,if and when necessary.
You might be awarded some compensation but unlikely to be much, particularly as you've been offered the reduction due already.
Curiously,I wonder what the odds are of having not 1 but 2 faulty meters are, that is interesting.0 -
Thanks, but I forgot to mention that the bill was £4600,which is double my average annual bill0

For what comparative periods? You hadn't noticed the huge recent price rises then?HAMMOUD said:Thanks, but I forgot to mention that the bill was £4600,which is double my average annual bill
Don't look at the £££'s, look at the kWh usage. If that is similar to the same period a year ago, then there is no error and the estimate has been done correctly. No free lunch, and no free laptop
