I drove into the premises of the Mecca Bingo Wood Green to pick up a deaf person for their driving test on the 23/09/2021. I had to explain to them the normal procedures as a reminder before the driving test and checked a few details necessary. That normally takes a bit of time as they are deaf but I did not use any parking bays as my intention was not to park my car. I received a parking charge notice from Parking Eye and I have replied to them and their response was that I do not have enough evidence. After this incident, I have checked to see whether there are any signs mentioning that entry was prohibited. There was nothing mentioned anywhere apart from parking rules. I just want to make it clear that I did not park the car and left the premises.

I would like your advice as I had issues with Parking Eye before and they are extremely unreasonable and I can confirm that I had a case with them not long ago but I have not paid them as they were unfair and finally they stopped bothering me.

Parking Eye monitor time on site , so your vehicle was considered to be parked , even if you don't agree with their definition of parking , which is different to yours

The plan A and plan B are explained in the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum , Especially if you are appealing

Parking Eye have 6 years to issue a court claim pack from the CCBC in Northampton , to sue you , in either case or both cases , where you can explain it to a judge , in court

So it's not over until 6 years have elapsed ( in England and Wales , 5 years in Scotland )

When picking up a passenger in future, meet them on street, not in any private car park.

You can pick up passengers on double yellows.  That's what I always aim for as it keeps bays on street free and uses the yellow lines as intended (checking that there are no kerb blips/loading ban, of course).

Do a POPLA appeal including a WS signed by the deaf passenger, confirming you did not park.

I have pasted all the info from the 3rd thread created by OP here

On the 23rd of September 2021, I drove into Mecca Bingo car park area to pick a deaf person for the purpose of taking their driving test at the Woodgreen test centre. I received a Parking fine obviously for waiting, I have appealed to POPLA and received comments from the Parking Eye. Subsequently, I went to the car park to check on the terms and conditions on the sign (attached herewith) which was too small to read. I would appreciate any advice and comments please.

From the 2nd - now deleted - thread the docs you posted stated you were in the car park for 35 minutes. Did you not obtain a ticket?

You never updated us on two previous tickets - Highview and NPE. Any reason?  Did you not think the help given to you freely by volunteers in their own personal time deserved the courtesy of an update in each case?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Apologies, life being such a stress sometimes, I completely forgot to say thank you but I am very grateful for your help. Regarding the two previous tickets, nothing happened after that.

  • Regarding the Mecca Bingo hall parking ticket, I got in touch with the general manager who kindly helped and canceled the ticket.

Thank you all for your help and comments.

That's great news!  PLAN A STRIKES AGAIN!

Make sure it is cancelled by checking on ParkingEye's website, it will show either a sum of money owed or 'cancelled'.
