I switched suppliers 1st October so ended up paying both suppliers a direct debit this month. I gave a meter reading to both on the day of switch but my old suppliers say they can’t use that and need to wait for my new suppliers to send them the reading.
Does anyone know how long this takes (EDF to octopus if that matters) as I’d rather not pay double again I’m November I can avoid it. I’m in credit with EDF so expecting a refund so don’t think I can cancel my direct debit or it will make it harder for them to refund me?

EDF have six weeks from your switch date to issue your final bill, so it could be mid-November before you know. You can cancel your DD with EDF, there is no direct connection between that and your refund.N.
