Radiator bleed not working…screw broken?

  • I gave it a go and the Heatrae is indeed showing green - phew. Red flashing ALARM is never pleasant to look at.

I’ve switched on the heating to test and the 2 radiators I did bleed are heating up nice and evenly (hurrah!) so that’s good. I feel quite drained so will pretend the other 2 are also working right now - though would be good to get them fixed too.

    Leak - oh no, what?
  • So I’m not sure if you’re seeing the same leak I am - (which photo/s?)
I went and looked just now and can actually see dripping water as pictured - exhibit A, as highlighted.
Is there another one you can see, and would you recommend I get this looked at? Any harm in just slightly tightening  the joint holders (not sure what the part is called - a nut?) myself and seeing if that stops the drips?

  • Excellent result on the boiler
Yes, that's the leak i was referring to, and the lower valve is also dripping! Good lawd.
First, place something over the pump to divert these drips away from the electrical connections, or we might be adding RCD 'trips' to your list of problems... Then form a foil tray on the wooden slats to collect all the drips.
Dry the valves thoroughly with kitchen paper, and then observe where EXACTLY the drips are coming from. If you can, take a sideways-on photo of the valve and add pointers.
The top valve shows drips in three places, tho' it's possible they are originating only from one - that smaller end gland nut (which would be good news.) The bottom valve shows only one source of drips?
It's not a biggie, tho' you need to stop these drips causing damage. Then they can be tackled according to where they are coming from.
