Hi my employer has arranged for an occupational health appointment and they have asked to do it next week during my annual leave as it's half term and I've plans with the family now. Should this be done during work hours or out of work hours, as they said it will take 1 hour.
  • What is the purpose of the OH appointment?
Do you expect to be working normally the following week?

Not been told. Only last month had the same firm do a report on me and been in work for the last month. And was told to review in 3 months. But they want me to see another Dr now. I'll be in work the following week following annual leave.

Presumably they told you what the reason for last month's appointment was.

It may be that the originator of the appointment time didn't know you were on leave.  It would be best to check and see if things can be re-scheduled.

You should be told the purpose of the referral and the questions they have put to the Dr conducting the review.
Request the arrangements are post annual leave, no explanation should be necessary.
You have a right of access to the report before it's supplied to your employer and the right to corrections...

Thanks all. I will send an email asking what the purpose of the appointment is. And also mention I'm on annual leave on the date suggested but back in the following week if it can be rescheduled please.

Don't ask if it can be rescheduled, just tell them you are on leave and not available on that date.

You feel bad you are on annual leave and plans with your children?

Cancel your leave and go to the appointment then.

Wouldn't you feel worse about cancelling your kids, than telling someone who didn't know if you were available, that you are on authorised leave?

If you feel worse about missing the appointment, go to it.
