Sainsbury supermarket is advertising a 37 hour per week with the hours being:

Schedule

Thu 9pm - Thu 7am
Fri 10pm - Fri 7am
Sat 9pm - Sat 7am
Total hours: 37

This makes no sense to me at all (it is copied from their website).  Can anyone explain what shifts might be to equal 37 hours across three days?  I had assumed it should say Thu 9pm to Fri 7am (10 hours); Friday 10pm to Sat 7am (9 hours) and Sat 9pm to Sun 7am (10 hours) but that only creates 29 hours.

A separate advertisement is for;

Schedule

Fri 9pm - Fri 7am
Sat 9pm - Sat 7am
Total hours: 27:45

If anyone can explain that too, I'd be grateful!

The query is how you can start work on Thu at 9pm and finish on Thu at 7am in one shift

Sorry I shouldn't have commented because I absolutely cannot be bothered to do the maths on this. I can offer agreement that the advert doesn't make sense.

I'd bet on it being a typo/cut & past mistake on the number of hours.

Picking a job at random it says:

    "Sun 10pm - Sun 7am
    Mon 10pm - Mon 7am
    Tue 10pm - Tue 6am
    Total hours: 24"

Even if the ad should have read Fri 9pm - Sat 7am, etc it still makes no sense because the hours don't come anywhere close to 37 per week.  I suspect the advert has been edited at some point before being published and not proof read to ensure it is accurate.

I agree, but just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something! Thanks for the reply

Perhaps it's a test (along the lines of "where would the survivors be buried?") to see which potential applicants are on the ball. There are bound to be some who won't notice the anomaly.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

it could mean that you will be working 37 hours total a week and the shift could fall into those time periods, where it could start Thursday 9pm or Thursday 7am etc

that is to let the candidate know that they may be required to do Thursday evening shifts from 9pm or Thursday morning shifts from 7am etc????

as i don't think it is meant to be read literally as written because it makes no sense that way.
