Animal Friends Pet Insurance claim denied

I had successfully claimed in 2018 for Urinary Tract Infection for my cat, this month (October 2021) my cat had a kidney failure (because she had eaten something) but Animal Friends denied £2100 claim because I had claimed in 2018 for UTI which they are saying kidney problems fall under the same condition I had claimed before, therefore, my claim was denied. Any views to share please. Do I have a chance if I complain to the ombudsman ? thanks

Do you have a lifetime policy which renews money/condition cover annually or a limited policy that covers for one year only or up to a certain amount? 

Are there any exclusions listed on your policy document?

You can try asking your vet to confirm that the current problem is not related to the previous claim and make a complaint on that basis- Follow the complaints procedure detailed iin your policy document.

If Animal friends still reject the claim then you can take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. Your rejection letter should advise you of this.

However, this is not unusual for Animal Friends who have very strict requirements when it comes to pre existing conditions.
