Hello. We live in an area where there is no gas,. So we are heated by oil and the rest of our energy is electric. We were with Pure Planet and are moving to Shell Energy. How does the energy cap work for just electricity? The current advice is not to shop around for a fixed deal but stay on the variable tariff.
What is the best advice for those is my circumstance?

Welcome to the forum.Exactly as for gas. Stay on the default (deemed) tariff. Don't try to switch provider, don't sign up to any tariff that Shell may offer you. Just give them your opening meter reading and your DD details then sit tight until April.1

Hi, We have oil heating and was with Igloo for Electric. I have been put on eon next flex which is 22p per kWh and 23.5 standing charge Is this correct? I thought I read somewhere the price cap is 21p per kWh.0

There are different caps for different regions, so nothing intrinsically wrong with 22p/kWh.deb.p123 said:Hi, We have oil heating and was with Igloo for Electric. The price cap depends on how you pay, and there are different caps to reflect this. Putting it on a monthly DD will likely reduce the costs.0

have a shufti here, it gives the prices for Next Flex which is the capped tariff, based on region and how you pay (DD, Receipt of bill) Next_Flex_Credit.pdf (ctfassets.net)
for some reason it doesn't show PayGo although it its somewhere between DD and receipt of a bill. The cheapest is DDNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
