Ccj and Mortgage help?

Hi. So me and my husband are wanting a mortgage. Unfortunately we both have a CCJ - mine will expire in Feb 2023 and my husbands August 2024. I have got an agreement in principle with Halifax on my own as together we couldn't (husbands ccj is for a larger amount than mine) we would need a 15% deposit. Any tips broker advice etc? We have good income and my credit score is building (it was low due to the CCJ and the CCJ being the only thing on there as I’ve never had credit except the old store card I never paid 😩😩)

Not in itself, no. But it would be if he pretended he didn't have a loan.0 -
Thank you. Sounds a bit sleezy doesn't it. Maybe we should wait. Thanks for your reply.0

They will want to know the source of your deposit and where he got the money. This is a bad idea unless you declare the loan.0

How would you get a decent APR loan with CCJ's?
You're just asking for another judgement further down the line.0 -
Does Halifax allow a single mortgage if you're married? Some mortgage lenders insist on joint applications from married couples.Rochelle1652 said:Hi. So me and my husband are wanting a mortgage. Unfortunately we have only saved 5% if my husband was to get a personal loan to use toward the deposit is this fraud? If so it looks like we will just save instead of going for a mortgage.0 -
I spoke to them today and apparantly so. But we have decided to wait now and save until our CCJs have expired then go in together.MaryNB said:

Its not fraud but they'll probably reduce the AIP mortgage amount by the amount of the loan, so it wouldn't helpRochelle1652 said:Hi. So me and my husband are wanting a mortgage. (ie if you borrow 10% personally, they'll change the mortgage to 75% LTV so you now need a 25% deposit + personal loan)
So yes, best to just wait and keep saving (plus the CCJs will roll off by then), if you can't go a cheaper property.0
