Day 2 PCR Test

I've just paid £86 for two day 2 PCR tests, (we are arriving Friday 22 and have presmued we were not eligible for the new lateral flow test) It's somewhat galling to read that many people who fly regularly have just used the same code to submit on their locator form and even have passed the code to friends and family to use with no problems! Has anyone else heard this? Are the govt not checking/monitoring this?
