Is there help available for a new roof

I am a single parent and classed as disabled.  I am also a home owner.  We have black mould on all our upstairs ceilings and everything in out loft is saturated.  I have no savings and I am on PIP.  I am also going  through a divorce at the moment which is taking forever so at the moment there has been no financial settlement so I feel like I am in limbo.

I have had a quote from local builders and it has been confirmed that I need a whole new roof.  Is there a government grant available or any sort of help that I can get towards a new roof.  The quote is for over £6k.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there isn't any central government grants available for this type of work. That said, your local council may have some funding available either as a grant or a loan - Have a look on their web site for details.

Failing that, have a chat with your bank manager and see if they provide a loan - I took one out to fund a reroof earlier in the year at a paltry 3.5%APR which I thought was ridiculously cheap. Still waiting for a contractor to do the work... Doesn't look like it is going ahead until next spring now.
