The same happened with my flat, in my case it was built on the site of an old farm house.
The council sent to the buyer's solicitor copies of all the surveys that were done on the site when the flats were built (late 1980s). This was deemed satisfied by the buyer and all went ahead.
Nothing like that had come up when I bought the flat 2 years before, I think solicitors are becoming increasingly aware of problems in this area and are particularly hot on it as a result.
If you can get to the council and get the information yourself it will speed things up.
Lastly, what does your EA say? Mine had experienced the same thing on the same development a couple of months previously and reassured me that everything was ok but the solicitors have to check everything out.Saving for an early retirement!0 -
