O/S Daily Thursday 21 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, dry and cooler than it has been.
DH up and getting ready for work as is DS1, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was beef stew and dumplings, mash and veg - very nice it was too, and turned out ok first time I've cooked that sort of dinner in the ninja. Whilst on half day yesterday I then made shepherds pie for tonight - so that's ready just to put in the oven and there's fresh broc to go with it and I'll make some gravy too. There should be some LO's as it's a big dish full.
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, I seemed to be rushing around all morning though, then had jobs I wanted to get done once home, I ate my lunch at gone 2pm. Working at my normal office today - all day but then finished until Monday. needing the break.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Lovely clear morning here although still very dark. The moon was shining brightly when I got up for a pit stop at 2am. I slept really well for a change, hoping that's the start of some better nights. Feeling quite a bit better too, may even go for a swim tomorrow.
The blinds were fitted yesterday and look good although there's a gap at one side of the bay, I'll ask them to come back to fix that. DD was still here with the little one when I got home so we had a good game of hide and seek!
Glad you're feeling a bit calmer Ruby, it always helps to talk.
Washing fairly up to date, will do the ironing later, only a few things to do.
Thinking of the poorlies, take care. XX

Morning folks.Yesterday was such a sunny day, it was a joy to drive down to Campbeltown and back. After sorting out a new car for March next year I did a little shopping down there, mostly store cupboard stuff. By the time I got back home the dark clouds were rolling in. Overnight the moon was so bright it woke me up, mind you I didn't stay awake for long.Today is going to be chillier than recently so I have the wood burner primed and ready to go and brought in extra logs. I'm expecting a TV engineer to sort out the downstairs set, I think one of the connections to the freesat dish has come loose. It's been like that since before I went away so now's the time to fix it. Later this evening I've been reassured that the sparky is coming to put in the new electrics in the loft for the PIV unit. 🤞 🤞for that happening.I need to rewrite my Will so will be spending some time doing the workings out for it, I keep putting it off but now is the time!Happy Thursday to everyone.12

Morning all
Seems much colder here today heating has not clicked on so it cant be too cold. Off to work for me and I am going to email today and ask if there is any movement in the wages for the other job - it wont hurt to ask and it would make it much more liveable on iyswim.
Pasta for dinner tonight with some olive tapenade we bought in Greece and I shall do some aubergine parmasan to have with it and a bowl of salad. I need to finish my shopping for collection tomorrow as well.
DW to empty before I go to work and I will put a wash on.
Spoke to our lovely Nels last night she is doing well but gets tired easily, I think the terorist is working her hard.
Have good days all xxx12 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Blimey what a difference in temperature! After a few mild days my phone told me it was 3 deg outside! The heating is definitely on for a while, but sunshine is forecast for most of the day
Yesterday's forecast of light rain was wrong!! We had decided to get the bus onwards to Otley for a change and as we were waiting for it the heavens opened and we had torrential rain which lasted a good couple of hours. We did a little wandering with brollies up but my only purchases were a few gift bags from the Everything 20p Shop! We decided to backtrack to Ilkley for late lunch in our favourite watering hole and all enjoyed an enormous plateful of cod and chips washed down by a nice bottle of wine.
So after 2 days of pleasurable gallivanting and eating out today I am grounded - until teatime when Sparkle has an appointment at the vets. Aaargh another big bill. Poor little lass, she now has eruptions on her pretty little face too. I wish there was a magic cure but despite forever trawling the 'net there doesn't seem to be an alternative treatment beyond the pricey steroid injections and anti b's.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all in need of them. Thinking of our poorlies and worried. Take care one and all and be safe xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"13 -
Morning everyone poor little sparkle she’s got a good home with you TA it’s bitterly cold here I’ve walked the dog and got the washing on the line it’s quite blowy and it has to be dry all day it’s mostly bedding and towels so I hope they are right it’s jacket potatoes tonight. I don’t know if it’s because it’s so dark on a morning but I feel as if I’ve dragged myself through this week I feel shattered everyone I speak to has said what a long week it’s been .I have only lived in this house 3 months after living in my previous one 32 years it was a big step but it’s been the best thing I ever did I have always been lucky I had some good neighbours in my old house and the same has happened here a lady at the end of the street caught me as I was coming back in this morning and said I hope you don’t think I’m been cheeky i have seen you with your new dog and she has a load of wet and dry puppy food left over which hers are to old for now and did I want it I said yes I would buy it off her and she insisted no it was taking up room in the cupboard and if I didn’t take it it was going in the bin so I have ended up with enough dog food for about 3 months how nice what a lovely start to the day must crack on have a good day everyone whatever you are doing12

Morning all. Off to take my car for an MOT today, hoping it'll sail through as usual although the brakes need looking at and the auxilliary belt. I have just put de flea stuff on the cats so they hate me now. I probably won't see them all day but even if they don't like it or understand why I keep chasing them with little pipettes, it'll save scabs and pulling out fur. I was getting Itchpet but it seems to have stopped working so I went with Frontline. The table is finished sanding and covered with material so a sand down later and two more coats of watered down pva and it's good to wax and buff. Depending on how knackered I am when I get back will determine how much I do.I did a sort of mse thing/sort of not mse thing last night. I bought on ebay a very expensive thing that doesnt work. I'm confident I can get this thing fixed and sell it for a large profit but time will tell whether I've been stupid or not. It's quite a rare item and very collectable. I've been looking at them for years and wanting one, but haven't been able to justify having it, even if I would use it.TA, poor Sparkle, must be very taxing for her and you with the stress and the cost. She's lucky she found you
Gers, looks like you have the next few months sorted doing stuff you've been unable to sort out until now. And they are delicious, I taste tasted first before I cooked them this time, usually I don't put enough seasoning in. I ate three...there are 8 left..but not for long!.
..Ruby, good luck! also good to hear Nelski si doing better with some proper terrorists. Izzy, how lovely of her...camelot, we had biblical rain last night, I had to keep swerving on the road when I went to pick up OH, massive puddles everywhere...Have a good day all, chocolate or cheese if you can't...

Morning hugs if you need one. Massive downpours again yesterday, got soaked going out to the shed.
Small wash of coloureds on, waiting for the whites to build up to do a white wash.
We went round for coffee yesterday, no one there door locked.....so we came home, was not too happy, will be having words.
Will be going over to see B in a while, she went yesterday to sign up for her flat, they were gone 3 hours, so I guess she was sorting out where things are to go. Her son is coming over on Saturday to pack up more stuff and take it over, he is also going to hang curtains etc. I have 2 pairs of trousers to lift the hem on, could not see how they had been sewn, discovered that the iron on tape had been used. Have also had to order more thread for the cards I am going to make...........A lot of designs are designed using Madeira thread, I use Marathon, getting a match is not always easy!!
Steak to braise for supper tonight with carrots and brussels, not a lot of taste in the brussels, not had a decent frost on them yet. We had a small slice of cake each for dessert, it needs eating up.
DB announced last night he had a cold.....sore head and throat.........I told him I was going to do a covid test on him this morning, there has been an over night miracle, just a sore head. Does not make any difference he is still getting a test!!

Hi everyone,
My days seem to be feast or famine at the moment. Either I'm rushing around like a mad thing or doing very little. So far this morning I have made some dough for cinnamon buns (just waiting for it to prove), dropped Steve at the golf club, done a small Lidl shop and filled up the car. I'm cross with myself because I forgot my phone so didn't get the lidl plus points - I'm very near the £200 spend this month to get a £10 voucher. I don't usually reach that figure but Steve bought a tool table and a couple of other bits which bumped up the spend.
Still to do this morning is to pack a few things for our brief trip to Wales, finish the buns and give the bathrooms a quick once over.
Have a good day.10 -
Morning all wet and windy here just waiting for the roofers before i walk the dog will they won't they come today they didn't come yesterday but no text till after 11am . My aunt called to let me know my uncle had passed away so that was another blow it has left me feeling a bit low in all honesty i let the girls know but DS was at work till 11.30pm so he will need to be told when he gets up he worked 14 hours yesterday .

Morning all, well what a change in the weather, lovely but cold. It's ok in the house atm as the heating has been on but we did get a log delivery a few weeks back and brought some in the house. Mr T delivery shortly.Gers glad you had a lovely trip to Campbeltown, happy to hear the site we stayed on is still there- it's been at least 25 years since we wentPumpkins bought yesterday. I also got a cutting kit which seemed to make the job a lot easier so both DGC have done them. DGS wanted to wait for DH to come home then he could draw the design he wanted. The shepherds pie went down well too. They don't often stay for tea much these days, especially on a school night and DGD remarked that it was like the old days when DS2 still lived here and the kids slept overRight better get sorted, though I could do with another coffee first. Didn't have a good night's sleep at all, so I shall wish all of you a Happy Day & put the kettle on x:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'.
