How do you find a conveyancing solicitor in Scotland?

I am moving from London to Renfrew, Scotland, and need a local solicitor to handle my home purchase.
Should I randomly pick a local solicitor?
Should I decide based on online reviews?
Should I get online quotes from them, and decide based on the best price?

Yes, any of those will work. Recommendations from people you know in Scotland might be good too. Bear in mind there's no particular advantage in the solicitor being local to Renfrew, anybody in Scotland can do the work for you (not that there's a shortage of solicitors in the Glasgow area).1

That's a useful point, though it massively adds to the available options.user1977 said:Bear in mind there's no particular advantage in the solicitor being local to Renfrew, anybody in Scotland can do the work for you (not that there's a shortage of solicitors in the Glasgow area).
I just assumed that a local solicitor might have useful knowledge beyond the legal paperwork.0 -
If all other things are equal, yes, they'll probably know about local title quirks, policies of the local council etc. Though I wouldn't expect it to make a huge difference. Anyone in or around Glasgow will have done stuff in Renfrewshire before.eloy7 said:
