It baffles me why they continue to insist on booking 1-hour appointment slots just to open a joint account whilst showing each applicant the same videos, twice. And an appointment at your local branch could be weeks away because of artificial demand.

Because people were 'misold' PPI and packaged bank accounts I'd imagine.

"citing a fall in customer demand for the closures"
    Have customers been demanding closures?
Not very good writing for a "journalist".

PPI isn’t exclusive to joint accounts, and opening sole accounts requires no appointment. Opening a sole Club account online does come with an optional survey that actually quizzes you like a test with multiple choice answers on how to waive the £3 fee and what’s required to earn interest, but this survey test is not offered at a joint appointment.

It certainly does in my town's branch, i had to comply with the rule myself.

Covid has ensured that branches have had a drop in demand so has been a most useful scapegoat.
If it hadn't happened our branches might have had a longer reprieve.
I now do all my Lloyds banking at the post office, instead, because their staff are friendlier.
    First, take responsibility .....

Colour me confused. So if you enter your address in an online application, it stops you from applying online and forces you to book an appointment in branch?
