lack of invoice from boiler installation

WE recently had a boiler installed via a discount scheme. The process and communication with the company was pretty shoddy leading up to the install. It was carried out by a local plumber, who was brilliant and very helpful. The discount company have yet to provide me with an invoice, I have the funds ready to pay but my wife is insistent that we should get in contact and pay. In my eyes, a company needs to supply an invoice, its their fault if their accountancy is poor. I cant be under any legal implications if an invoice has never been supplied? Like I say, Im more than happy to pay i just think that incompetency shouldn't be rewarded

There's no general legal rule that an "invoice" is needed. If you've already entered into a contract to pay then you need to pay. But I expect they'll produce one if they're told that's what you need to pay them.0

That's true but they haven't supplied me with any account details to pay into. Its been silence since the install. I'm sure I will receive one but I'm not the one to be chasing it0

If you have a contract (verbal or written), they have fulfilled the contract satisfactorily and you haven't paid then you are a debtor to that company. Are the details of the quote and the company details not any paperwork you've had?
That being said, to stand a decent chance of successfully enforcing any debt through the courts, they would need to notify you there is an outstanding amount and provide you the opportunity to pay. I'm not convinced there is a requirement for there to be a formal invoice, although it would certainly help their case.

I would be more concerned about the Building Control Completion Notice. If you haven't received that, you will potential have problems selling your property or making an insurance claim as there is no proof that the boiler has been installed correctly. Focus on getting the Building Control Completion Notice, and don't worry about the invoce.
You should probably check with the boiler mnufacturer that your warranty has been registered correctly as well. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0 -
So how long ago is 'recently' ? 2 days, a week, a month?
If they haven't invoiced you yet, it's unlikely that they've registered the install either with the manufacturer, which means that you will have no warranty.
Did they supply you with the Benchmark paperwork? No free lunch, and no free laptop

It was installed 2 weeks ago. The Boiler was then services and registered Gas Safe with the installer. I also happened to have the manufacturer's technician over to solve and issue that the installer couldn't.
The only information I have as a cost quoted is by the plumber who installed the boiler, which was a text message.
In my eyes, if the company isn't willing to supply and invoice, how am i supposed to pay, know who to pay? Incompetency shouldn't be rewarded. I have the money ready to go, i just want an invoice.
I will check with the manufacturer regarding the warranty

If nobody has asked you to pay yet, what's the problem?0

For me, I would wait until I got a proper invoice, including VAT number etc, before paying0

Only two weeks? Maybe they do monthly invoicing, maybe he's taken a weeks holiday. Many sole traders are not great at the paperwork side of things, as it's done during downtime-and this is usually their busiest month of the year.No free lunch, and no free laptop

They have six years to issue an invoice and chase you if they want paying. Put the money into your savings account and wait for the invoice to arrive. If it hasn't after six years, you can spend the money! The comments I post are my personal opinion.
