Selling my car abroad.

I have a left hand drive car and i need to sell it. Obviously it would be better to get an oversees buyer but i don't have a clue about where to even start going about this. Could anyone help please ?

Did you buy the car in the UK? If it's UK registered then it's probably easiest to sell it here

There are several dealers that specialise in selling LHD cars in the UK: just Google it.

    Depends what it is...

A high-performance vehicle that was only made in LHD (e.g. Lancia Delta Integrale) - look for a specialist dealer.

Something more run of the mill that was bought in Europe, then personally imported and re-registered in UK?  Maybe you'll be lucky and find a UK buyer who wants one to take over to their holiday home in Europe.

We Buy Any Car might take it - but you probably won't get a good price.  Is there a branch of Nous Achetons Toute les Voitures that you could drive to and get a Eurostar back?
I need to think of something new here...
  • We had a French guy at work with the same predicament, his 2001 LHD French registered VW Passat that he wanted to dispose of, he mentioned to me that no one would want to buy it.
I suggested that he put it on EBay, I said a Pole would probably buy it & drive it back to Poland!
That is exactly what happened & he got a much better price than he wanted!

More details of the car might help.

  • Autotrader and other usual places, just make sure to point out it's LHD. It will be bought by someone going back home to continent or someone who will come to pick it up and take home.
