If you're helping a rescue, could you (or they) ask around to see if anybody who knows what they're doing would be available to pop over and have a chat with the guy when he turns up? They could ask what materials he plans to use, about the design etc and then let you know if it sounds suitable. A lot of people feel very strongly about the local cat rescues here so I'm sure somebody would offer if they knew what had happened.3

update - he pmd me this morning saying he wont be able to take the work on but is issuing a full refund - he doesnt want any of the materials back either
so, im now going to see if i can get a decent builder to come rectify his errors....3
