DVLA car tax direct debits not showing as switched to bank account.

Good afternoon

Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this. I swiched bank account from MS to Virgin in Dec 20 (lovely free wine). Just received an automated email from the DVLA informing me my direct debit has renewed but unfortunately it's quoting the MS bank details. I'm assuming this will be handled through the switch service but I don't want to fall through any cracks.

Does the DD mandate show within your Virgin account?

It doesn't no that's what's worrying me but that just might mean the details weren't passed on by Virgin but if the switch system works properly shouldn't it take up the slack?

Sorry guys it is showing on the Virgin account it was just taking a long time to load up the screen on the app. Apologies!

When the mandate was switched with the account, Virgin would have contacted the DVLA to advise them of the new details - whether or not DVLA take any notice of that is another story, but even if they try to pull the money from the old account, the switching service redirects that request to the new account, so it should all be seamless to you, although sensible to cross-check that the money has been taken as planned....

Cheers for that I'm just worried about possible penalties if the payment does not go through.

If it doesn't go through then, depending on the actual reason, it would be either DVLA's or Virgin's responsibility to sort it out, so I can't envisage a scenario (assuming you have sufficient funds in the account) where you'd be on the hook for any such extra charge....
