To claim off of your employer you would have to prove they were negligent - did something a reasonable person wouldnt do or failed to do something a reasonable person would do. So it would depend what it was that was being stored, how it was setup (and who set it up), any exclusion zone, what the weather report was etc.

The most common similar claim is when fence panels or tiles get blown off a house and hit a neighbours car and most of those claims fail because they cannot prove that the owner reasonably knew there was any problem with the condition of the item. On the flip side I have seen a couple of claims where a trampoline has done similar and those claims were successful because the box of the trampoline & instructions all stated that it must be anchored to the ground and they had failed to do this.

Irrespective if you settled directly with your employers or claim off your insurance you are legally obliged to tell them of the incident (many will "forget" to do so though)
