New item specific requirements

Ebay in their wisdom have changed category requirements again, some are nonsensical as well, but it means item specific requirements have also changed . I have over 150 that need changing urgently as they are now required not just recommended , but I change or add the items showing as required, it confirms I have done so and then immediately shows that listing as needing updates.

I have also found that some of my item requirements that were already added have been lost so my brands in many categories have gone and even when I put them back, they disappear again.  I’ve been trying to do a batch a day and still have almost as many requiring immediate update as when I started, it is driving me crazy.

    eBay seem to tinker.
I have a number of saved searches.
I can look one day and it's changed to 'gallery view'.
Or the 'items per page' has changed to 50 from 200.
    It's very irritating.

You mentioned 'nonsensical'. That it is....I'm having to update about 30 of my items even though I always add things like model number, EAN, size, colour etc and yet they still want this info. Most of my items are general but also some VERY specific and niche - almost impossible to grab that info. Not even amazon for same item have such details.

There are a lot of frustrated business sellers , like me some of their items have changed to categories that make no sense and for which item specifics just don’t work. I don’t want to be specific as I wouldn’t want to identify any business so will make stuff up, but things like die cast models now being shown in war gaming categories or kitchen aprons under wood working items.

Even when I change mine to fit the new categories mine won’t stay changed and I’ve still got nearly as many to change as when I first started several days ago.

I'm a sporadic private seller due to start listing again soon. Some of my last listings were a chore thanks to having to figure out exactly what fabric something was made from or other inane details that the vast majority of buyer wouldn't look at or care about. If I list a certain type of Craghoppers trousers the buyer knows what they are but I doubt they know the exact name of the fabric.
Sellers and buyers are generally competent people who don't need this interference.

Don't forget you can usually put your own value in the drop-down boxes so under fabric you could put 'see label' or 'mixed' or anything you want.

I use a lot of 'does not apply' or 'various' or 'mixed'  but it is tedious especially when an hour later it tells you all the boxes are empty again and you still have 100+ listings to change.

Have you flagged this with eBay?
If you're completing boxes and it's either not saving or removing that information, surely it's a glitch?

I totally agree with all of the above.
I'm a private seller trying to declutter my late husbands and my mothers items.
When I changed to the 'new view' I methodically worked through all 270 listing, adding all the required information. Admittedly I used 'various', 'mixed' or 'not known' on many items. My 'item specifics' column was empty! After a couple of weeks the column was full of 'new requirements'. Repeat and repeat but then I got fed up and I only update a few

I've just checked and several books require 14 updates! Does this mean my items don't appear in searches?

I've been having great success selling and gifting on Nextdoor lately which requires only 5 clicks and a photo

Yes, me and many others apparently ebay are ‘aware’ of the issue.

I’ve given up wasting time persevering with this and just make sure my new stuff gets listed , although one of those was fine when I submitted it and suddenly 48 hours later was apparently missing required item specifics.
