Fireworks

i totally understand, as a kid (i'm only in my 20's!) me and friends used to love sitting at the window and seeing numerous displays around town.

and as usual, a good thing turns sour once the wrong people get an idea into their heads. the biggest problem i think is the bangers - they are no spectacle to watch and are just noisy.

if only everyone had your consideration!

If this site's about saving money, then surely the back garden over the counter fireworks are the biggest waste of money possible?

The best fireworks are the orgnaised public display ones. Once you've witnessed those ones then the ones that people let off in their back gardens just amount to a pathetic display and anti-social nuisance.

On November 5th round here it's like the whole town's exploding in unison.

"Money Saving is about cutting bills not cutting back. It's about being a sassy consumer.

Exactly right, wouldn't disagree there but it's clearly possible to interpret that in a number of ways. Surely the first rule is, that with help, advice and a bit of being streetwise is to avoid wasting your money on inferior products.

My advice would be that if you want to save money and see the best fireworks and avoid upsetting your neighbours, then invest in either the petrol or boot leather to get yourself to a public display, which is generally free, safer and on another level (quality of fireworks wise).

Freedom of choice of course, but surely the above is better value and more entertaining?

I certainly agree with you all about the fireworks going on for ever ... so to speak ... but what I wonder are we going to do about celebrating the new year ... and special occasions if we are not allowed to let off fireworks after 11pm ... will we have to welcome in the new year at 11pm instead of 12pm ...
    ;D ;D ;D

I suppose the organised parties will have to get special permission or something ... wonder if that has been thought about ...

ho hum ... have fun with your sparklers

  • You would probably get better value for money by going to a display. As a young child, I remeber these better than any small display at home. Plus it was a night out - we got to stay up later - and had hot snacks there too.
