O/S Daily Wednesday 20 October 2021
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
Now getting light, raining so wet under foot with lots of laying water at the moment, heating is on but I'll turn it off in a bit.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early, DS1 is getting ready for work and I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Dinner last night was LO roast, mash, yorkshires and just added some veg. DS1 had fish and rice. Tonight dinner will be beef stew and dumplings - I'll be making that in the ninja this afternoon when I get home from work, I also want to make a zesty lemon cake and some chocolate brownies and a shepherds pie ready for tomorrow night - so I just have to put it in the oven to cook. I'm trying to be better prepared to stop the extra "top up" shops which seem to be happening at least twice a week at the moment!
Yesterday work wasn't too bad, working at the other office today but it's my half day so will get home and get the bit of baking/cooking done.
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
Seems to have stopped raining for a while, it's been quite depressing.
I got a negative test result yesterday about 11am so I went into work for the afternoon, the day went quite quickly! Went for a coffee after work with others to see an ex colleague who has moved away, it was a good catch up although I was pretty exhausted when I got home, seems the cough and cold are taking their toll! Feeling a bit better today so fingers crossed.
Ruby I hope you've found some support, your fatigue could well be due to having Covid too, you've had a rough time.
The new blinds are being fitted today, DD is coming over to let them in, then that's the living room done apart from finding some blue cushions and throws, the blue I'm after seems to be in short supply.
Have a good day if you can, take care. XX12 -
Morning all
Thank you all so much for your good wishes and support it means such a lot, I phoned the macmillian cancer help line and got some advice from them and I will phone ACAS in the next couple of days, I feel calmer now and I have some kind of plan forming, I broke down at work again yesterday in front of a manager and told them how anxious and upset this was making me, I also emailed him and HR and put down exactly how I am feeling and how it is affecting me (so that there is a record) and phoned my GP and spoke with him. I dont think its going to be very nice there over the next few weeks but I will stand my ground !
Back there today and I am working till 2.30 and then going to get my nails done, I love my nail lady and we always have a good chat which is lovely.
Cheesy bean pie for dinner tonight with some sausages, I am not keen on sausages but OH loves them. The dw needs emptying this morning and re- filling.
Camelot I hope you feel better soon xxx
Topsy so nice to see you posting I am sorry about your split from your husband but I know you were not happy for a while xxx
Have good days all and thank you again xxx14 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC. Good news about the test result CAMELOT. RUBY you got lots of good advice on here yesterday, I hope it all helps make your work situation easier to cope with. TOPSY lovely to hear from you again, I hope you and your DS are settled and happy in your new little home.
Yesterday's rain wasn't as heavy or prolonged as they forecast so I didn't end up like a drowned rat by the time I met my DF. We did much nattering away as usual and enjoyed a lovely (and not very healthy!) lunch of gammon, egg, chips and other bits and pieces.
Today is bus trip day. Aka aimlessly wandering and browsing followed by a wine 'n dine lunch. It's full house today, all 3 of us again.
I've just been ordering Catsan and James W indoor cat biscuits for Sparkle so that will be another heavy parcel winging it's way to Casa Abuela. I think I now have 4 deliveries imminent. I've been keeping delivery drivers in a job since the start of the pandemic.
Have a good day folks if you can and ((HUGS)) for all our poorlies, poorly loved ones, sad or worried. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Morning folks.Ruby - it's good to hear that you have a plan and feel more positive. Keep your chin up.TA - enjoy your wanderings.Yesterday I did a few jobs in the house which I'd been ignoring so well until now. Just wee fiddly things which took me no time at all so quite why I've been putting them off is a mystery. This morning I'm going down (for a change) to Campbeltown to look at new cars. Even though the weather isn't great I'm looking forward to the drive. I shall try not to buy anything when down there! I don't need any more food this week as I'm off to Glasgow on Friday. Now I'm going to start my day. Hugs to all. Happy Wednesday to all.12

Morning everyone
Just having breakfast then I'll be going down to work. We're having a quieter week as there's a couple of children off with chickenpox. The rest are coughing and sneezing!
Rained most of yesterday but it's meant to be dry the rest of the week so at least we'll get them out to play.
Florenceem - I hope you haven't stopped posting because of what was said on the other thread. We're all interested in different things and I liked hearing your Salvation Army tales and seeing your makes. The only thread I post on is this one as it's the friendliest.
Well I'd better get my dishes done. Hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone
Just a quick post this morning as I have put some sausages under the grill and the dogs are telling me that they are nearly done!
We had a spectacular thunder and lightening show last night apparently but I managed to sleep through and missed the whole thing. I had a good nights sleep though so I don't mind.
Chicken baguettes for dinner tonight with some potato lattices. The lasagne I made last night was delicious, much better than the last recipe I tried. My sister is coming for lunch club today so I will ask Steve to make me a packed lunch for that.
I will echo others and say Florenceem please come back, I miss your pictures of your makes x
topsy, I hope you have a more settled life now for you and your DS x
TA, I am another one keeping the delivery service afloat. I must must must do some wrapping today as we can't get round our bedroom without tripping over bags and boxes.
Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx12 -

Florenceem, I felt the comment on the other thread was completely unnecessary and hurtful for you. Would love to see you back posting.

Good Morning All,
What a wet night it has been, I’ve just drawn back the curtains and it looks so golden from all the autumnal leaves it is beautiful.
I have no firm plans today. We got on very well yesterday with doing the master bedroom but I ache a lot now, so will need to be a rest day for me. I will try and potter in the sitting room by dusting the books and book shelf.Yesterday, I did get all the dinners cooked so I nice easy dinner tonight of reheating, apart from doing some rice, so saving on gas which is OS.
Other OS is making some cleaning cloths from very old and frayed cotton bedding.
Take care all.

Hi everyone,
It seems to have rained all night so Steve won't be able to mow the lawn. The Council suspended our garden waste collection a few months ago but have decided to collect it for one week only this week, although they have suspended the food waste collection to do it which is a pain because the food waste will have to go in the normal bin. Thinking about it I think we'll have to take it to the tip because we are away next week so it will be 4 weeks before the normal waste is collected and I don't like the idea of rotting food in it all that time.
Izzy, my sympathies are with you. Steve doesn't so much moan as theorise that every ache and pain is something life-threatening which gets exasperating. It's a result of getting the lymphoma diagnosis which came out of the blue so I try to cut him some slack although his wilder flights of fancy get short shrift sometimes.
Have a good day all.
Ruby, I hope work is ok today.11
