Is it warmer than last year?

I have had my heating on since the 1st October and have been averaging 10 kWh less gas daily since then that I was using last year at the same time.
The only difference is that I replaced my old 30 year old wooden double glazed windows with new gas filled 20 mm upvc double glazing.
Therefor am I saving 10 kWh a day because of my new windows or is the weather warmer?
The thermostat setting and time the heating is on is still the same setting as last year. In fact the thermostat settings have never been altered since it was installed

Yes, according to my energy consumption spreadsheet, the first 2 weeks in October have been considerably warmer than the first 2 weeks of October 20201

In my little part of the South West the average maximum temperature for October so this year is 16.7c the same period last year was 13.5c. Overnights have averaged 3 degrees higher as well. It's hit 19c today.
So yes it's considerably more mild. We have not yet felt the need to put the heating on, or even a fire in the longue. Looking likely next week though..1 -
However, it's going considerably colder from Thursday with an overnight frost for some.1

Also 10 kWh is just under 1 unit on a meter @ 4.1p per kWh that's 41p per day. I still haven't had mine on.Someone please tell me what money is0

Other than turning it on to test it's working I haven't even used any heating yet (in E. Anglia). A high of 21C today apparently! Overnight low of 16C too.
Definitely seems warmer which is great with what's going on.0 -
For consumers but not for energy firms who need as much cashflow coming in as possible. It might accelerate further more energy firm collapses.Liku said:Other than turning it on to test it's working I haven't even used any heating yet (in E. Anglia). A high of 21C today apparently!
