Hello, I've just moved to UK for my PhD, I've opened a Club Lloyds account and i want to get some interests on my money, but I need to pay at least 2 direct debits every month to get them. I rent a flat with bills includes co I can't pay billd with DD, and also my mobile provider (guffgaff) doesn't accept direc debits. I've tried to open a TESCO saing account as suggested on the formu, but it'a available only for UK permanent residents.
I'm still not used to the UK banking system.
Do you have any advices for me?
thanks to everyone

Go to the "Savings and Investments" part of the forum. There is a thread "Savings accounts accepting DD`s". However I don`t know which ones will accept you.Are you able to open a Marcus account? It pays .6% interest and you link it with your current account.0

You’ve said your rent includes bills, but does it include Council Tax and a TV License?
If not, both of those can be paid by Direct Debit which would satisfy the requirement. Council Tax is paid across 10 months of the year by default, but if you contact your local council you can easily change this to regular payments across 12 months instead.
Otherwise, all I can think of if you are struggling to open saving accounts is that I think some pensions allow you to make additional contributions via Direct Debit. You may wish to do this for one of your Direct Debits.0 -

yes its all included,
mm ok I'll ask about the pension. There are another methods to use DD? Like buy some £ of amazon credit every month with DD?0 -
Try Paypal, and / or a General Investment Account with someone like HSBC, Hargreaves Lansdown, Nutmeg, Vanguard or Wealthify. Choose a low risk investment if you aren't certain that you will keep the account for many years. Same applies to Pension investment, btw.
Shame you just missed out on the Wealthify cashback deal by 4 days but the HSBC one might still be available. Natwest and RBS also have offers for their investment accounts from time to time but not right now, I don't think.
You might even qualify for an S&S ISA whilst you are resident in the UK.
You don't need to be a permanent resident, you just need a permanent address (as opposed to a hotel or B&B or holiday let etc). When/if you leave the UK, you will have to tell your provider, and possibly close your account, depending on where you move to.
